WEIGHT
15-30 pounds
LIFE SPAN
12-15 years
Information

The Pomsky is a cross between the Pomeranian and the Siberian Husky, often bred via artificial insemination due to size differences. This hybrid has quickly gained popularity for its adorable, wolf-like appearance, fluffy coat, and big personality in a smaller package.

Pomskies often inherit the best (and sometimes the most challenging) traits of both parents — the playfulness and alertness of the Pomeranian combined with the intelligence and energy of the Husky. They are social, vocal, and full of character, but they need regular training and exercise to keep their strong-willed side in check.

Their looks vary greatly depending on genetics — some look more like small Huskies, while others lean heavily toward Pomeranian features.

Overview

Pomskies are vibrant, social dogs that love to be involved in everything their humans do. They're highly intelligent and enjoy activities that challenge both their bodies and minds.

Because of their strong-willed nature and vocal tendencies, early training and consistent boundaries are key. They can be prone to barking, especially when bored or under-stimulated.

They do best in homes with owners who are committed to exercise, training, and grooming, and they can thrive in both apartments and houses if their needs are met.

What to expect

Owning a dog is not just a privilege; it’s a responsibility. They depend on us for, at minimum, food and shelter, and deserve much more.

Health
May inherit issues from both parent breeds: dental problems, luxating patella, allergies, eye conditions, and hip dysplasia. Vet screening and responsible breeding help minimize risks.
Grooming
Moderate to high. Brush 2–4 times a week, more during shedding seasons. Regular grooming prevents matting and controls heavy seasonal shedding.
Exercise
Moderate to high. Needs at least 45–60 minutes of activity daily. Walks, play sessions, and mental games are ideal. Loves interactive toys and agility-style activities.
Training
Highly intelligent but can be stubborn. Needs early, positive reinforcement-based training. Socialization is key to reduce barking and reactivity.
Nutrition
Feed a balanced small- to medium-breed formula depending on adult size. Monitor calorie intake to prevent obesity, especially in less active dogs.
