Information

Bearded Collies are quick-witted and eager to please, but their playful stubbornness requires consistent, positive training. They excel in obedience, agility, and herding trials, but just as happily play in the yard with kids or go hiking with their people.

Their long, double coat requires regular care—brushing several times per week to prevent tangles and matting. Grooming takes commitment, but the breed doesn’t shed heavily. Health-wise, Beardies are generally hardy but can be prone to hypothyroidism, autoimmune conditions, and hip dysplasia.

Overview

The Bearded Collie, affectionately known as the "Beardie," is a lively and affectionate herding dog from Scotland. Originally used for driving sheep in all weather conditions, this breed is built for endurance and agility, with a friendly spirit that’s earned it popularity as both a worker and a companion.

Beardies are outgoing and love being part of the family. Their enthusiasm is contagious—they’re always ready to play, work, or go on an adventure. They thrive in homes where they’re included in daily activities and where exercise is part of the routine. Though calm indoors, they need space and stimulation to stay balanced.
