American Bully

HEIGHT
13-20 inches
WEIGHT
65-120 pounds
LIFE SPAN
10-13 years
Information

The American Bully is a relatively new breed developed in the 1990s in the United States by combining American Pit Bull Terriers, American Staffordshire Terriers, and other bulldog-type breeds. The result is a dog that blends strength with sweetness – loyal, loving, and confident.

Despite their tough appearance, American Bullies are companion dogs through and through. They are extremely affectionate with family, including children, and often get along well with other pets when properly socialized.

They come in several size varieties (Standard, Pocket, XL, Classic), but all share a broad head, muscular body, and smooth short coat. With the right structure, they’re easy to live with – calm indoors, playful outdoors, and always eager to be part of the action.

With low grooming needs and a stable temperament, the Bully is ideal for families looking for a loyal dog with just the right amount of energy and personality. They're people-oriented and thrive when treated as part of the pack.

Whether curled up next to you on the couch or strutting proudly on a walk, the American Bully is all heart behind the muscle.

What to expect

Owning a dog is not just a privilege; it’s a responsibility. They depend on us for, at minimum, food and shelter, and deserve much more.

Health
American Bullies can be prone to hip dysplasia, skin allergies, and breathing issues in exaggerated types. Choose reputable breeders and keep them lean and active.
Grooming
Low maintenance. Their short coat needs occasional brushing and bathing. Clean skin folds (if present) and ears regularly to prevent irritation.
Exercise
They enjoy moderate activity – daily walks and play sessions are usually enough. Not high-strung but can become bored if under-stimulated.
Training
Eager to please and highly people-oriented. Respond well to early, positive reinforcement-based training. Socialization from puppyhood is important.
Nutrition
Feed a high-quality diet suited to their size and energy level. Monitor weight carefully, especially in heavier types. Joint supplements can be beneficial.
